AMIC110: Ethernet Protocol Questions

Part Number: AMIC110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMIC120

Hi,

My customer is interested in AMIC110 to support multiple protocols.  They have the following questions:

  1. How much memory (worst case) do we need to run any protocol.
    1. Assuming memory is connected to external processor, not to AMIC110.
    2. When memory is connected to AMIC110. It looks like we can use SRAM, not DDR. Is 500Kbyte enough? Something like (IS61WV25616)
  2. required supply rails: 1.1 / 1.5 / 1.8 / 3.3 ?
  3. how protocol licensing work. What is the cost?
  4. how much Firmware development do we need?
  5. Does AMIC110 has 2 PRU vs AMIC120 has 4 PRU
  6. If we do not run Industrial Ethernet protocol on AMIC110, can it’s PRU be use for Serial Encoder?
  7. Are Serial Encoder library i.e. Biss-C, Endat and Tamagawa provided by TI
  8. Industrial Ethernet Protocol stack provided by TI or do we need to purchase it from third party?
  9. List TI provide protocol stack and the ones that need to be purchase from Third party and vendor name.

Thanks,

Chuchen

  • Hi,

1a. This is not an use case we support.
1b. SRAM is not supported on the EMF of AMIC devices.
    2. Required supply voltages are listed in the device datasheet.
    3. TI provides a suite of industrial protocols: www.ti.com/.../PRU-ICSS-INDUSTRIAL-SW Licensing information can be found in the software manifest for each protocol.
    4. That depends on entirely on customer. TI cannot answer this.
    5. Yes.
    6. Yes.
    7. Yes, see 3 above.
    8. See 3 above.
    9. See 3 above.
