CCS/TDA3XEVM: How to run use cases under control of debugger ?

Part Number: TDA3XEVM

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

TDA3x is connected to computer terminal. Capture source is OV10640 Sensor 720P30 - CSI2. Vision SDK usecase is 'Single Camera Usecase'. Images are captured by camera and displayed on computer monitor.

Then, I am unable to debugger to target?

Hi,

You most probably have code previously running on your target that pre-initialized and protected some registers. This may be either running from a SD card or from code pre-programmed in Flash memory in the board. I suggest changing the boot mode to debug or simply removing the SD card.

I changed boot mode to debug. Now I'm able to connect target configuration to the board.

I'm also able to connect Cortex-M4_IPU1_C0 to target. But I get following error when I click on resume button.

I didn't make any code changes to vision sdk. I loaded application using QSPI and SD boot.

I don't have any project in CCS. I need to execute demo use cases under debugger control.

Hi Amer,

Did you set Vision SDK Config to 1 in TDA3xx Multicore gel file?

Per instructions in TDA3x user guide, I installed GELs from C:\PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_05_00_00\ti_components\ccs_csp\auto_rvp_rsp_device_support_1.0.7.zip to C:\ti\ccsv8\ccs_base.

I set VISION_SDK_CONFIG to 1 in TDA3xx_multicore_reset.gel but I get same error.

In following file, I set VISION_SDK_CONFIG to 1
C:\ti\ccsv8\ccs_base\emulation\gel\TDA3x\TDA3xx_multicore_reset.gel

After connecting Cortex_M4_IPU1_C0 to target, I stepped over few instructions and then instructions are ???? as follows:

When I connect Cortex_M4_IPU1_C0 to target, PC is at address 0x000004b4. Please see disassembly window as follows:

Is that expected?

Where can I get documentation for TDA3x Processors. For example, Assembly Language Manual for Cortex_M4_IPU1_C0 ?

Hi Amer,

0x4b4 is ROM address and is expected. For assembly language details on cortex M4 you should refer to ARM documentation.
What is the binary that you are loading?

Hi,

I believe in TDA3xx user's guide, there are Three load methods as follows:

1) Load using QSPI

2) Load using QSPI and SD boot

3) Load using CCS

I chose method 2 above. I flashed SBL in QSPI. I copied AppImage to SD card. Now, use case is running fine without the debugger.

Is it possible to run use case under control of the debugger. If yes, what is the process ?
