Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138
Hey Everyone,
So I'm exploring the possibilities of doing on demand video encoding. The use case is somethign like, this. You have high-def vide files on a harddrive, and you wish to encode them to a more streaming friendly format and transmit. I was exploring the DaVinci and the integra solutions and have a question to help with selecting the processor. I'm looking at combine DSP + GPP solution. The Davinci series has video cprocesor units that will handle H.264 encoding which is very appealing. However it doesn't seem to have a SATA interfce whic means I won't be able to read of a hard disk (or at least I dont' think so). The integra solutions have SATA ports but lack the video co=processors. I was wondering, is it possible to use the DSP in the integra solutions to implement accelerated encoding. Would this provide any acceleration when compared to a purely software based encoding. Also, does the TI codec engine help construct the said codec on top of the DSP? Finally, are such codec available freely or are they IP which require purchasing. ANy help with this would be much appreciated.
Thanks
