Hi Natalia,
To see how the PINMUX translate into the the low level Linux init (ie device tree) you can have a look at the different AM57x and AM572x .dtsi/.dts files from the Linux kernel.
For example for Processor Linux RT SDK 4.3 and above you can look at:
http://git.ti.com/processor-sdk/processor-sdk-linux/trees/processor-sdk-linux-rt-4.14.y/arch/arm/boot/dts
