Video decoder on C5509A - is it possible?

Hi folks,

I have a custom board based on the VC5509A DSP. The board has a 3.5' QVGA TFT LCD( with integrated controller) attached to EMIF of the DSP. I also have a 2GB SD card on MMC/SD controller.

Now I wanted to implement a video decoder in software and run on the DSP. My question is can the DSP handle basic video decoding running at 200MHz?

in addition; I have an ARM7TDMI MPU on board, connected through SPI with the DSP, in case it helps

PS: I'm new to video decoding and stuff, but I've a lot of experience with 5509A

I have a similar question and do not want to pollute the forums with multiple posts.

I plan to use the TMS320VC5509A DSP Starter Kit for a real-time image processing application and wish to connect it to my camera. The camera outputs s-video, so I was hoping to use an s-video decoder such as the TVP5150AM1. I have very little experience interfacing hardware components together. How do I connect the decoder to the DSK?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes. The DSP can run at 200MHz at 1.6V Vdd.

yes Steve, that is already in the datasheet. What I wanted is to know if it can be used to decode and play back a digital video

You can use the DSP to run codes at 200MHz. The key is with the SW algorithm.
