What's the easiest way to burn on-board NOR flash on a DM6467 platform?

There seems to be three different methods for DM644x MMS UBLs and Flasher, Sergeys UBL and host tool and TIs DVFlasher.  They would have to be ported to DM6467.  And then the FlashBurn Porting Kit could be purchased: http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tmdssdsfbpk.html , but I would asume this also has to be ported.

Thanks

  • I have been flashing DaVinci boards for a while and in my humble opinion, the easiest (less steps) and more convenient (less tools needed) way is to use DVFlasher, although I must admit I have not tried it on the DM6467 EVM myself.  Additionally, since you have the DVFlasher source code, you can modify it for your custome board if it uses a different flash part.

  • I agree with Juan, the DVFlasher utility is probably the easiest way to go, at least it is what we usually suggest and typically use most often (this does not mean that the other options will not work but if they do not we may not be of much help).

Though it is theoretically possible to use the FlashBurn tool (for NOR only) I do not believe that has been done before, as the FlashBurn tool is more tailored to traditional DSP only systems, and the porting kit version of FlashBurn has a cost associated with it (in addition to doing the actual porting) whereas the tools like DVFlasher are free. If you want to know more about FlashBurn, it is actually a third party tool, the website for it is http://www.softwaredesignsolutions.com/default.aspx.
