AM3358: OSC0 LVCMOS Reference Clock rise/fall time

Part Number: AM3358

#1. Customer asks what is the reference clock rise/fall time <5ns comes from? is there margin?

#2. Now on customer board, the rise/fall time is 8.2ns, is it acceptable?

#3. If not, what is the potential risk? what failure mode maybe happen?

#4. If other factors such as temperature, humidity accelerate the failure rate?

  • 1. 5ns is clearly specified as the maximum rise/fall time. This comes from device characterization.
    2. No, this is outside specifications.
    3. TI does not test devices out of specifications. Datasheet requirements must be followed by the customers.
    4. See above.
