DM6467- 729 MHz processor codec capability

Hi ,

I want to use DM6467 for my transcoding application.

For that i will need information about codec capability of DM6467-729 MHz processor.

I want to know that  , how many simultaneously D1@30 fps channels decode and reencode it @D1 or @VGA and @what fps ?

If practical figure available then please share that one.

Thanks,

Hitesh

  • Hitesh,

The datasheets of the TI codecs on DM6467 is available at:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/DM6467/index_FDS.html

It will give you the details of the H264 encoder & H264 decoder performances on DM6467.

  • Hi Kapil,

From that link i am not able to find out multi Channel video encode and decode capability for D1@30fps resolution ?

If you have another information available than please share.

    Thanks,

    Hitesh

  • Hi Hitesh,

If you look at the datasheet for the H264 encoder (1.20.02.00), one channel of D1 encode requires 132 MHz of DSP and 182 MHz of Hdvicp (@594 MHZ). Note that we have 2 Hdvicps on DM6467. One can be used for encode and the other can be simultaneously used for decode.

The datasheet for H264 decoder (1.10.04.00) shows that for 1920x1080 we require 355 Mhz of DSP and 594 MHZ of Hdvicp (@594 MHz). So for D1 we will require ~ 60 MHz of DSP and ~100 MHz Hdvicp.

So one channel of E+D will reuiqre ~185 MHz of DSP and ~185 MHz of Hdvicp. ON 729 MHz part we can achieve 3 simultaneous E+ D of D1@ 30 fps easily. This will take up 555  + 20% overhead  =~ 670 MHz of DSP (assuming 20% overheads, which is very safe).
