AM3356: SED/ECC on internal RAM & on-chip memory

Part Number: AM3356
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 66AK2G12

On AM335x, we have Single error detection on L1 cache and ECC on L2 cache.

For the 64KB dedicated RAM and 64KB general purpose on-chip memory, it seems that SED/ECC is not implemented.

1. Why is there no SED/ECC for these internal RAM?

2. What is the soft error FIT rate for these internal RAM?

  • Hi Eddie,

As you’ve noted, AM335x does not support SED/ECC on these internal RAMs. If this is a requirement for your design, you might consider one of the following Sitara devices— AM57x, 66AK2G12, or AM64x.

As for soft error FIT rate, please refer to the request process mentioned in the following e2e thread-- e2e.ti.com/.../711867

    Regards,
