I am a new user of the TMS320DM648. I am trying to determine what external memory might be needed for a video streaming application. Is there a document that describes the DM648 internal boot ROM and its usage? and can an application be programmed in the boot ROM?

Gus,

No, customer applications cannot be programmed in the boot ROM. The applications must be brought into the chip via one of the boot modes built into the Boot ROM.

Yes, I found the boot ROM guide after asking the question. So, like the EVM board, I will need an external flash to program my application.

Yes, external flash boot is the most commonly used boot mode.
