RTOS/AM5746: Creating new project for AM574x IDK

Guru 24520 points

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi TI Experts,

I found that software developer guide is updates. And you have prepared the following page.
software-dl.ti.com/.../Examples_and_Demonstrations.html

But I could not find the case of using the AM574x IDK. Also, our customer requested to us to prepare the template project for AM574xIDK. Can you prepare it?

If you cannot, would you please teach me the way to use the project on AM574xIDK with using this template project?

If you have any questions, please let me know.
Best regards.
Kaka

  • Hi,

    For the template app, we only have AM572x GP EVM example with several drivers (like UART, GPIO, SPI etc) merged together. We have plan to add more driver examples, but not more platform variations, because we saw customer issues more came from how do integrate multiple drivers, replacing AM572x GP with AM571X/572X/574X IDK seems to be straightforward.

  • Hi,

    For how to create a template app for IDK AM574X, you can:

    Look at the C:\ti\processor_sdk_rtos_am57xx_5_01_00_11\demos\rtos-template-app\readme.txt to see which file is platform specific:

    A. GPIO_evmAM572x_board.c ====> this one you need to replace (check the difference between GPIO_evmAM572x_board.c under template app and the original one under pdk_am57xx_1_0_12\packages\ti\drv\gpio\test\led_blink\src\am572x. Then apply the change to the pdk_am57xx_1_0_12\packages\ti\drv\gpio\test\led_blink\src\am574x\GPIO_idkAM574x_board.c, finally add this into your template app

    B. main.cfg====>var socType           = "am572x";  =====> this has to be "am574x"

    C. In the projectspec

    ompilerBuildOptions=" -mfloat-abi=hard -DevmAM572x -DSOC_AM572x -Dam5728 "

    -L${TI_PDK_INSTALL_DIR}/packages/ti/board/lib/evmAM572x/a15/release/

    They need changed.

  • Hi Eric,

    Thank you for your response.
    About replacing the "GPIO_evmAM572x_board.c " file, it is large difference between "GPIO_evmAM572x_board.c" and "GPIO_idkAM574x_board.c". How should customer modify it? Is it OK as below?

    I only updated the value of GPIO_USER0_LED_PIN_NUM  and GPIO_USER1_LED_PIN_NUM.

    ***************

    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <ti/drv/gpio/GPIO.h>
    #include <ti/csl/soc.h>
    #include <ti/drv/gpio/soc/GPIO_soc.h>

    #define GPIO_USER0_LED_PIN_NUM (0x17)
    #define GPIO_USER0_LED_PORT_NUM (0x07)

    #define GPIO_USER1_LED_PIN_NUM (0x16)
    #define GPIO_USER1_LED_PORT_NUM (0x07)

    /* GPIO Driver board specific pin configuration structure */
    GPIO_PinConfig gpioPinConfigs[2] = {
    /* Input pin with interrupt enabled : AM57X_IDK_GRN_LED */
    GPIO_DEVICE_CONFIG(GPIO_USER0_LED_PORT_NUM, GPIO_USER0_LED_PIN_NUM) |
    GPIO_CFG_IN_INT_RISING | GPIO_CFG_INPUT,

    /* Output pin : AM57X_IDK_YEL_LED */
    GPIO_DEVICE_CONFIG(GPIO_USER0_LED_PORT_NUM, GPIO_USER0_LED_PIN_NUM) |
    GPIO_CFG_OUTPUT
    };

    /* GPIO Driver call back functions */
    GPIO_CallbackFxn gpioCallbackFunctions[] = {
    NULL,
    NULL
    };

    /* GPIO Driver configuration structure */
    GPIO_v1_Config GPIO_v1_config = {
    gpioPinConfigs,
    gpioCallbackFunctions,
    sizeof(gpioPinConfigs) / sizeof(GPIO_PinConfig),
    sizeof(gpioCallbackFunctions) / sizeof(GPIO_CallbackFxn),
    0x20,
    };

    ***************

    Best regards.

  • Hi Eric,

    Would you please give me answer for my question?

    Best regards.

  • Hi,

    We don't have AM574x IDK GPIO ported to template app yet. So you have to look at the standalone AM574x IDK GPIO led blink example under pdk_am57xx_1_0_12\packages\ti\drv\gpio\test\led_blink. There is pdk_am57xx_1_0_12\packages\ti\drv\gpio\test\led_blink\src\am574x\GPIO_idkAM574x_board.c.

    You can see that there is a distinction between revision 1.2 and 1.3 board. The GPIO pin definition are different. Also, there is additional PINMUX setting for 1.2 board GPIO pins.

    If your board is Rev 1.3, you code above should work.

  • Hi Eric,

    Thank you for your response.
    I hope that you will prepare the template project for all TI evaluation boards by next SDK release.

    Best regards.
