how does the DM-368 deal with multiple video inputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158

Hello,

I am starting a new design with the DM368 SoC,And consider inputing several video signal in parrallel,

from what i have seen in the brosure it is possible, but on the datasheets i cant find any information about how to do it.

there is 2 8bit digital video inputs (Y and C) that can be united to one 16 bit video digital input so phisicly i can enter 2 8bit video inputs, so i belive there is a mux element

from what i have seen in the DVR dm368 block diagram, they have managed to enter 8 video input with to quad decoders in cascade mode so it is indeed posible.

thanks alot

Pini

  • Hi,

In the DVR case, the input is from analog camera (source) and it is converted to digital format (BT656) through TVP5258 device (which can take up to 4input). The muxed data come into DM36x through camera interface.

2 8bit inputs (Y and C) through 16bit camera interface are possible, but as there is only one clock, the two data need to be fully synchronized.

  • Hello

    Thank you for your answer,

i don't understand what do you  mean when you say that the data needs to be fully synchronized:

from what i have read at the tvp5158 data-sheet there are two possible connection:

    1. 4 channels connected to 16 bit digital input with a 4-muxed signal

    2. 2 channels for each 8 bit input with a 2-muxed signal

if the input is analog, the tvp5158 doesn't automatically make the digital output synchronous?

in addition, what do you think is the best way to connect the 4 inputs: 1 or 2 ?

    thanks for the support

  • I meant two different approachs.

    1. Using TVP5158

    2. Using 16bit camera interface port (input is Digital YUV)

For the first one, please refer DVR reference design.

The second one needs clock syncronization.
