Linux/66AK2G12: Using DSP as Linux Audio Sink

Part Number: 66AK2G12

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I am working on a design with the 66AK2G12, Linux SDK 5 and RTOS SDK 5.  The ARM is running Linux and the DSP is running TI-RTOS.

I am curious if there is a known method for streaming audio from the Linux filesystem to the DSP.  The idea here would be to use a userspace Linux application to present audio buffers to the DSP so that the DSP could select Linux as an audio source.  I have seen bits and pieces of software that seem to indicate this is possible, but I have yet to see it explicitly called out.

The "Codec Engine" and Gstreamer plugin look promising, but I think they may do much more than I need.  I seem to remember there being an example project that did this, but I cannot remember which version of which SDK it was in.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here?  Any recommendations as to how I should go about this?

Thank you,

Jeff Limbocker
