TMS320C6746: USB host without VBUS and DRVVBUS

Hi Experts,

I'm considering an application with C6746 USB Host only mode. I don't think that it's necessary to use a power switch(e.g. TPS2051B). Because the USB connection is inside our equipment and the power is always supplied to the connected USB device.

I saw the following circuit example with similar thread using AM335x. Can this circuit be applied to my case?

Hi Kzk,

the implementation in that other thread assumes that the USB is always in host mode and the peripheral IC is powered separately (so negligible current draw).

Is your connected USB device self-powered?

If yes, then the FET solution should work.

If no, then I recommend the Current-Limited, Power-Distribution Switch should be used.
