Linux/TDA2EX17EVM: When set linux bootargs with parameter "loglevel=0" , IPU firmware will failed to load. (vision sdk 2.12 (linux))

Hello experts,  

  I use tda2ex17 evm board with vision sdk 2.12 (linux version), and found out  when set bootargs with parameter "loglevel=0" , IPU2 firmware will failed to load . I dont konw why this problem only happened once(first time test) on tda2ex17 evm board, but  it happened very offen when i set bootargs with parameter "quiet" on my customed board(tda2xx + vsdk2.12 linux). when set bootargs with parameter "loglevel=8", IPU2 firmware will success to load.

     kernel_loglevel_0.txt is  log file of failing to loadipu2 firmware.

     kernel_loglevel_8.txt is  log file of successing to load ipu2 firmware.

     What does the error trace mean, could anyone tell me how to fix this?

  • Hi,

    Please implement the changes suggested in the patch attached to your kernel device-tree. Idea is to enable the timers necessary for each core.

    This issue was fixed in subsequent releases of Vision-SDK.

    Subject: [PATCH] arm: dts: Update timer entries for remote-cores
    
    VSDK firmwares use the following timers:
    IPU-1 -- timer9, timer11
    IPU-2 -- timer9, timer11
    DSP-1 -- timer5, timer6
    DSP-2 -- timer5, timer6
    
    By default on Processor-SDK Linux Automotive IPU-2 binaries use timer3.
    Since ipu1 is disabled for all infoadas builds an explicit entry for both
    timer9 and timer11 must be specified.
    In DRA75x and DRA76x since both DSPs are used no additional changes are needed,
    however for DRA72x and DRA71x where only 1 DSP is available, timer5, timer6
    entries are specified.
