Questions about OMAPL137,can ARM do signal processing and logic control at the same time

Hi there,

  I wonder If the ARM core is powerful enough to do the signal processing that DSP does.Cause the ARM core's frequecy is 300MHZ,If I just run some simple control task,Can ARM do the digital signal processing part,meaning that It can do fft or some complicated algorithm while running a system.If so,we can remove the DSP or just ignore him.I'm using OMAPL137 do USB data transfer ,think that a system running on ARM side can simplify the job rather than the DSP side?

  As far as I know,there are not so many people using OMAP processors,also the Davicci architecture.Could you please give the some details of the outstanding perspects of the two-core architecture of OMAP series?
