Da Vinci 6446 EVM Master Video Capture Mode Daughter card connector D4

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5146, SN74AVCB164245

Has anyone used the daughter card connector D4 on a Da Vinci 6446 EVM to do Master Mode Video capture.  Please detail what you

did to get this working . . .

                                                                                     Thanks TPC1

  • Are you asking from a hardware point of view or software?

If from a hardware point of view, if you are driving an input into the DC4 connector, the following things need to be considered.

    1) Disable the on-board TVP5146 connection to the Video Port Front End (VPFE) interface of the DM6446.
There is a SN74AVCB164245 device that can be forced into a tri-state mode by pulling DC4.2 (CAPTURE_EN on pin 2) to a logic-1 at 1.8V signaling.  There is a 10K ohm pulldown (R264) on CAPTURE_EN.

    2) Ensure the signals connected to DC4 are at 1.8V levels.

  • Also, if you look at page 33 of our VPFE User's Guide ( http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/sprue38c/sprue38c.pdf ), you will see that when DM6446 is the master, you need to make sure registers which define the video frame are appropriately defined for the video resolution you are using.  Not sure if V4L2 driver is doing this.

  • Hi,

We are trying to interface Aptina CMOS chip to the DM6446 board. How do we enable the Capture_En signal in software ?

Can we switch between two cameras - one connected to TVP5146 and the other RAW camera, during runtime ?

    Thanks,
