Linux/AM5728: connecting two EVMs

Hai,

I am working on AM5728 EVM . Is it possible to connect two of them(AM5728 EVMs) using SPI interafce. Actually i am trying to send the audio from LINE in(AM5728 EVM) using mic which should be heard at LINE OUT of another AM5728 EVM. My choice is to use SPI for the above audio transfer between two EVMs.

But not sure of the decided choice is there any way for the above transfer. if through SPI it is possible can anyone help me how to edit the device tree for kernel modification.

Hi,

There is no driver support for SPI Slave mode in the Linux Processor SDK for AM57x.

Hello Venkat,

Using an aux cable, you could connect the LINE OUT of one board to the LINE IN of the second board. My test setup is as follows:

In the following thread, I talked about using arecord/aplay to capture/play audio. For your case, you would need to run both commands simultaneously on both the boards. Also, you can control your volume as mentioned in the following thread.

thanks for the inputs. But, i want the two boards to connected in such a way that the stored audio recording in one board must be sent to other board and played through LINE OUT.

Hello Venkat,

Please correct me if I am wrong but are you trying to record audio on one of the boards and then save the audio in a file and transfer the file to the second board?

yes. But, if it is possible to send the audio from one board to another without saving the file that also works good to me.
i just want hear the audio spoke ,from LINE IN of one board, at the LINE OUT of other EVM.

Hello Venkat,

My example in the previous post, takes audio from LINE IN (Board-1) and plays the audio through LINE OUT (Board-2). In the example, I connected a phone to the LINE IN but in your case please connect a dynamic microphone. On both of the boards, please run the following command: "arecord -Dplughw:0,0 | aplay -Dplughw:0,0". This will enable you to have real time audio capture and playback capabilities.

Hello Venkat,

For the Board-1, you can look online for a dynamic microphone for the LINE IN input. Then, you need to connect the LINE OUT (Board-1) to LINE IN(Board-2) using a Auxiliary Audio Cable. With regards to LINE OUT( Board-2), you can connect speakers/headphones of your choice.
