To get access to the TI software update site, you must register your EVM using the following link

http://focus.ti.com/dsp/docs/dspsplash.tsp?contentId=33169

After successful registration, you will get an e-mail with instructions on how to set up a PIN (or password) which you can use to access the software update site

A good shortcut for this I use often is www.ti.com/davinciregistration, a very good site to visit if you have a EVM board.

The links here are a bit outdated, and the distribution of software for the Davinci processors (as well as Sitara, Integra, and OMAP processors now) has changed quite a bit. Originally the software stacks were not available at public links due to licensing issues (and thus you needed to register), however since then they have become more freely download-able.

In general, if you are looking to download a new SDK, DVSDK, or other target software package than http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/ is a good place to start, you can find the latest releases there.
