 We are stuck on bringing up the C6748 by using SD card boot.

Please share us the working ccxml (target configuration) / Gel file / MLO / Config / APP for a try.

    While loading the gel, we have this kind of problem log shown on the CCS.

    Can you please try running the debug GEL file?

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../OMAP-L1x_Debug_Gel_Files

    This will tell us the device state and where the boot is hanging.

    Hi Rio,

    Can you please also share the output of the debug GEL file? It should print the following information to the console log:

    • ROM ID: Revision number of the boot ROM
    • Silicon revision number
    • Boot Mode: Current boot mode, as selected by the boot pins latched at reset
    • ROM Status Code: Current status of the ROM code
    • Description: Description of any error messages that the ROM may have encountered during boot
    • Program Counter: The current program counter of the connected device (ARM or DSP)
    • Device Information: Generic device information that may be helpful when getting support from TI
    • Clock information: PLLm_SYSCLKn is output
      • Note: If your board uses an input clock other than 24 MHz you need to modify the definition at the start of the gel file accordingly.

    There  is no any output regarding this GEL.

    Please tell us how to get the output console for this GEL.

    Moreover, I'm using CCS8.2

    This discussion was taken offline. The guidance provided was the following:

    "The instructions on the Processor SDK RTOS Boot page to format the SD card and running the MMCSD writer is the same for lcdk6478 and lcdkOMAPL138 but the mlo binary is different. The SDK doesn`t provide a pre-built version of the MLO for C6748.

    To build the MLO for lcdkC6748 use the following instructions on the Processor SDK RTOS Boot page:

    Setup Processor SDK RTOS environment

    cd pdk_omapl138_1_0_x\packages\ti\boot\sbl
gmake clean BOARD=lcdkC6748
gmake mmcsd_flashwriter_clean BOARD=lcdkC6748
gmake all BOARD=lcdkC6748 SOC=C6748 BOOTMODE=mmcsd
gmake mmcsd_flashwriter BOARD=lcdkC6748 SOC=C6748

    Copy app to formatted SD card, and copy MLO and config file to <PDK_INSTALL_DIR>/packages/ti/boot/sbl/tools/flashWriter/mmcsd/bin/lcdkC6748. Run mmcsd_flash_writer.out using CCS.

    Additionally,

    "Setting up boot switches: Boot switches on LCDK don`t directly support No boot/debug boot mode setting like we used to on the EVM so set the HW as follows based on the usecase
    • For debug and development, set the LCDK boot switches to UART boot.
    • For NAND and SD boot, set the LCDK boot switches to corresponding boot media.

    For connecting to the LCDK board using GEL files follow the instructions here: (Instructions apply to CCSv7 and CCSv8 as well)

    Note: If you select the LCDK platform in the ccxml as described in that article the correct GEL for the platform will be auto populated.

    For SD booting the LCDK platform using SD boot using Processor SDK RTOS, follow the steps in the Processor SDK RTOS Developers guide:

    The mmcsd_flash_writer.out doesn`t copy the image from SD and write to NAND flash. It copies the image over JTAG and programs the boot image on the raw boot sector on the SD card. If this is not working for you, please ensure that you copied the MLO and the config file to the right location and provide the log from the writer. If the writer completes successfully, then ensure that you change the boot switches to SD boot and check the boot log.

    It looks like the MLO is booting correctly otherwise, you wouldn`t have seen the log
