Integra 8168 support for MMC and CMOS camera

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi, I'm examining the 8168 spec. I noticed that there is only support for only 1 SD/SDIO interface, and that there is no support for 8-bit MMC. I'm trying to understand the full implications of this. Does this mean I can only support 1 SD card with the 8168 and not 3 SD/MMC cards that I would have been able to support if I was using OMAP3530? Are there types of microSD and SD cards that won't work that I should be aware of. Similarly, on OMAP3530, the ISP provides an interface to CCD/CMOS sensors via BT.601/BT.656 10-bit parallel interface. On the Integra 8168, there is a HD video capture interface. But I'm not yet sure which type of commonly available sensors are suitable for use with it. I'd welcome any feedback.

  • Jaya,

You are correct, this device has one SD card interface and supports 1-bit and 4-bit SD modes.  It will support SD cards that are compliant to the industry standards described in the SD section of the datasheet.

The two digital video capture ports support a single 16/24-bit digital video input or dual 8-bit SD inputs on each capture port.  They support standard BT.601/BT.656 inputs so would easily interface to video inputs that support these modes.
