AM6548: How to boot from flash

Part Number: AM6548

Recently, our company is investigating the boot mode of TI AM654x_evm,

now we can download the source code into AM654x's RAM using CCS via the embedded Jtag debugger,

and let it directly run in the RAM, but we must download the source code once again when we turn its power on.

next we want to download our source code into AM654x's FLASH so that when we turn its power off,

the source code is still in it, and when we turn its power on, it will automatically run.

Hi,

Which Processor SDK are you using? Linux or RTOS?

The Processor SDK we used is TI RTOS,
version is processor_sdk_rtos_am65xx_5_01_00_11.

Hi,

I think the most convenient way is you boot from MMCSD card. You need two files, one is secondary bootloader, the other is your application image. You can copy a new application into MMCSD card (from your computer).

Another way is to boot from OSPI. To change your application, you need to rewrite the OSPI, not as convenient as MMCSD.

Both MMCSD and OSPI boot are explained under: software-dl.ti.com/.../Foundational_Components.html

but perhaps I think it is not so detailed on account of my unacquaintance with it.
could you tell me detailed steps about ：
①Now my project's output file is ".out" file, How to convert it to application image?
②How to build the SBL using CCS? could you give me a sample CCS SBL project?
③What we want most is to load program into OSPI flash, but now I could only generate the output file via CCS,
next what I should to load it into OSPI flash? I think a sample CCS project would be better.

I have a preliminary understanding about the OSPI bootmode according to the reference manual,
but only know the boot process.
I still didn't know how to burn my sourcecode into OSPI flash.
could you give me some help?

Hi,

We don't have CCS project to build the SBL for AM654x, it is built by makefile.
We also don't have the CCS project to build the OSPI test example, it is built by makefile as well.

From the top level pdk_am65xx_1_0_2\packages, after setup the build environment, issue "gmake" you can build. See the topic: software-dl.ti.com/.../Overview.html
