Linux/DRA74: Waylandsink: Video screen going blank when pressed next/previous multiple times

Hello Team,

We use custom h/w and software based on DRA746 and PSDK 3.03

Currently we are facing one issue specific to video playback for following use case:

Start the video playback through HMI.
Press next/previous continuously 8-10 time.

We observed that video screen goes blank, but video pipe line is in play state and we are able to hear the video sound. If we press next/previous again we are able to hear the audio of next video, but video is not coming on the screen.

We checked the video surface it exists, but not attached to layer and surface properties are not set.

And we are not getting the surface creation and surface destruction events when we are pressing next/previous when issue occurs.

Do you have any inputs for this issue?

In community I found one issue in waylandsink related to race condition on multi-threaded client https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-bad/merge_requests/74/diffs?commit_id=f7f21f2b847ce1ba0c6d476577b7ed252e113db7. Provide your inputs for this as well.

Hi Ikshwaku,
If the issue is with waylandsink, TI will also not aware of the fix any on gstreamer1.6. Need to check for any fix from latest stable gstreamer 1.14.x for fix.
Is the patch you have mentioned resolving the issue?

Hello Ram,

Please check for this patch as well. "bug768158.bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi

Issue is still seen after applying the patches.

Hi Ikshwaku,
Do have a way to check the behavior with desktop-shell?
or with kmssink? Want to narrow down if the issue is with videosink element or not.

Hello Ram,

We dont have any way by which we can check this with desktop-shell.
I tried to use gst-play but next/previous is not working.

Any inputs for the patches, can we include them in our builds?

Hello Ram,

I am not able to do next/previous with gst-play command, so not possible to reproduce with gst-play.
Issue is not specific to any video streams, its generic.

I have one query, is there a limitation related to surface creation and distortion specific to time. In normal next/previous press system is taking around 1 second for destroying and creating the playback surface. Issue is happening when we are pressing next/previous very fast(like 4-5 times in one second)

Hi Ikshwaku,
gst-play-1.0 supports switching to previous or next track with < and > key. Can you try?
I am not able to get how I can reproduce the issue with EVM.
