DM365 MPEG4 Video not playing on Quicktime

We're streaming MPEG4 video from a DM365 hosted application.  At the receiving end we save it to file.

The saved file will play  in several players (mplayer, VLC, etc) but will not play in Quicktime.  The top 1/5 or so of the image is good. The second 1/5 is shifted over a bit (as if image width or scan length is incorrect).  From there down it gets worse, including degraded chroma information.

We've check all config parameters and SDP file values and they all look good.

Are there any known issues playing MPEG4 through Quicktime? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Did you ever get a response to this? I'm saving MPEG4 video from a DM355 to an SD card. I can play the video in VLC, but I can't export the video to ANYTHING. We want to manipulate the video after the fact, and we have yet to find a tool that can process the video being produced. At this point I suspect the MPEG4 codec is not complaint to the MPEG4 standard.

  • Nick, what version of the dvsdk are you using?  My understanding is that the MPEG-4 is compliant and that a compliant version would be released.  I was hoping that the dvsdk 4 would have an compliant version of MPEG-4.  I'm using the H.264, but plan to add MPEG-4 support shortly.

Also, I'm able to stream H.264 using RTSP/RTP to VLC and it works fine.  But Quicktime just shows a black screen.  I do have another product I developed using a non-ti chip that streams MPEG-4 to both VLC and QT.  But I'm counting on the Davinci to replace that product.
