Can do encoding 3M & 5M Pixel by H.264 at DM365 or DM368 ?

2. Yes, you can created as many instances of an encode algorithm as resources (e.g. memory) will allow.  However, only one instance can use the MJCP hardware at a time.  The demos included in DVSDK can encode and decode 720p @ 30, therefore, you can likely do 3 intances at 10fps or 6 at 5fps, especially if you are only doing encoding....

But i can't find 3M & 5M pixel encoding width H.264 at https://www.leopardimaging.com/DM365_5M_HD_Camera_Board.html

I think leropad encoding by jpeg because many webpage is written 3M & 5M pixel encoding by JPEG at DM365.

So I wonder H.264 can do encoding 5M pixel (not jpeg)

and  you mention "only one instance can use the MJCP hardware at a time". so i think MJPEG or MPEG-4 only 1 instance. but H.264 can use multi instance. is right ?

What I had assumed is that you wanted to capture 3M to 5M of pixel data, I did not tie-in the fact that you also wanted to encode this data with h.264 codec.  All codec(s) included in the DVSDK have corresponding data-sheets.  If you look at the h.264enc data-sheet, you are correct that the maximu resolution supported by this codec is 1280x720, hence 3M or 5M support with H.264 is not possible (not in a single frame anyway).  You can always break the 5M pixel image into smaller pieces (nor larger than 720p) and encode the smaller pieces.

In Header (ih264venc.h), max height  is 720, max width is 1280

it's limit by bundle code (i hope to 3 & 5 M pixel at bundle) so if i want to 3 & 5 Mpixel at H.264

i must developement. this is my conclusion.

I believe DM365/DM368 is limited to 1920 width.  It'd be very hard to stitch together a larger image into the same H.264 stream due to limitations in the video engine. It doesn't seem to be designed to handle higher resolution than HD it seems. Don't ask me why they decided to limit this.

For 3/5/10/14 Mpixels you'd need to use another IP camera chip, such as Ambarella A5s. They can do up to 32M H.264 and JPEG.

The bad thing about Ambarella is that they only sell their chips to the top customers... :-(

Hi,

DM365 or DM368 can do H.264 encoding upto a maximum of 2Kx2K. This is the current implementation target for H.264 encoder. There is no such limit on JPEG encode.

To answer the other question on combination of codecs, you can surely do 1080P + 720P combinations for H.264 encoder with the fps that you require.

Please refer to the datasheet (http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/DM365/DM365_latest/h264_encoder_dm365_datasheet_1_10_00_08.pdf) of H.264 encoder ver 1.10.00.08 which is the currently available on http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/DM365/index_FDS.html

Ver 2.00.00.xx H.264 Codecs for DM368 (and also for DM365) would be available soon for customers to download on TI website. That also supports 2Kx2K resolution.
