Linux/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM65X: AM6 - Linux SDK 5.2 Giga Ethernet testing fail on PRU (Eth1 / Eth2)

Hi Champs:

#1. We have tested the AM6 Linux SDK 5.2 version.

#2. While testing with the PRU Eth1 + Eth2, we found there are about 30% fail rate while doing the Giga Network testing in 5 mins.

#3. The testing env is:

PC (ubuntu) <------Cat 6 Ethernet Cable -------> AM6 + Linux SDK 5.2 PRU Eth1 or Eth2.

#4. And the Eth1 / Eth2 Throughput is about 80% performance compare to the Native Ethernet port on the AM6 EVM.

#5. Moreover, Customer is using the "CoreMark" tool to verify the AM6 Performance, do you have report while testing AM6 with CoreMark?

    Hello Rio,

    Last I checked, we were still working through some bugs in the PRU firmware for gigabit ethernet. Gigabit PRU Ethernet for AM65x in SDK 5.1 should be treated as beta software, and I believe the SDK 5.2 gigabit PRU Ethernet should also be treated as beta.

    Let me verify on this end. It might be helpful for our development team to have an idea of what your customer's carabouts are in terms of use case.

    Hi.

    The point of the customer concern is:

    A. PRU Gigi Ethernet Stability. Since they are industrial application.

    B. PRU performance is a little drop compared to the native Ethernet port.

    Hello Rio,

    Yes, we still have at least one PRUETH firmware bug that affects SDK 5.2. It looks like we intend to fix the bug(s) in Processor SDK 5.3, but I am still in the process of verifying that.

    Ok, as of today they are still working on bugs. PRUETH will be updated in the future, but I cannot promise everything will be working by SDK 5.3 since the debug process is ongoing.
