Hello,

We are developing an intercom/smart speaker system for professional use.

After reviewing many options, it seems that the following SoCs would be good candidates:

- AM57x Sitara

- 66AK2Gx

Both feature C66x DSPs + ARM Cortex A15 processor.

What are the differences between both SoCs and what would be the key aspects to choose one over the other?

Hi Jorge,

It seems to me that AM5708 has more features than 66AK2Gx, features like:

- 2x Dual Arm® Cortex®-M4 Co-processors (IPU1 and IPU2)
- IVA-HD
- 2D and 3D Graphics
- MIPI™ CSI-2 Camera Serial Interface
- HDMI

Right, there are more features for applications such as video, ... for AM57x.
For me, the AM57x is more an ARM architecture + co-DSP, and the 66AK2Gx is more a DSP architecture + co-ARM.
The AM57x features more performing ARM-A15, while the 66AK2Gx features more performing c66x DSPs.

For our audio project (intercom/smart speaker), I have the impression that the 66AK2Gx would be more appropriate.
Unless there are other considerations I missed.

Another question: Can we run Windows 10 IoT Core on the ARMs? Can we use Visual Studio for the development?

No, TI do not provide Windows and Visual Studio for AM57x and 66AK2Gx devices.

For AM57x, TI provides Linux, Linux-RT, Android, RTOS, see below pointers:

I am looking at AM57x SoMs (from Phytec and Compulab), and the only supported OS I see is Linux.

I do not see Android.

What can we do to have our DSP code running on c66x RTOS and our other communication code running on another processor such as ARM A15 on Android or Windows?

These are 3rd party boards, you need to contact Phytec and Compulab for support of their AM57x based boards.

Regarding Phytec, I can see they also support Android and TI-RTOS:
