Linux/AM5728: Why are these two Clamp circuit designs different on EVM?

Hi TI Team

Why are these two Clamp circuit designs different on EVM?

AM572x Evaluation Module

AM572X Industrial EVM

  • Hi,
These boards were designed by different team members. I'll check and see why the difference is present.

  • Hi,
I reviewed this issue with the designers. Both circuits are valid and have been tested. The circuit used on the GP EVM was based on the circuit provided in SLVU731A Powering the AM335x with the TPS650250. The circuit used on the IDK was based on the shunt regulator circuit provided in the data manual for the TLV431, which is slightly different. The designers were concerned that the resistor divider in the GP EVM circuit didn't match the TLV431 recommendations and made the change accordingly. Both circuits have been used on multiple customer designs without any reported issues. If you are using the circuit on the IDK, please review the notes on the schematic.
    Regards, Bill
