AM6548: PRU_SS Ethernet performance

Hello,

I would like you to confirm through put of PRU_SS.

I'm trying to check through put of network performance by using Linux SDK and AM654x GPEVM.

Here are result of iperf.

Above is result of eth0. This is expected result (Similar as benchmark.)

Above are result of eth1(PRU_SS) and eth2(PRU_SS).

The results are approx 160 Mbps. It seems too narrow.

So, Could you confirm whether this is expected result or not ?

SDK version which I use is SDK 05.02.00.10.

    Hello,

    I saw the same performance that you did when I ran tests on SDK 5.2. Our team is still working through some bugs in the PRUETH code for ICSSG. I expect the PRU ethernet performance to improve in future software releases, but I do not know if all the issues will be resolved by SDK 5.3 or if they will be resolved in a future release.

    I will make a note that you want to get the PRU ethernet fixed.

    What I want you to confirm is there is possiblity to get Gbps bandwidth for PRU_SS ports from viewpoint H/W at first.

    Could you please confirm ?

    For SDK, I will wait for updated version.

    Hello,

    Yes, the ICSSG hardware was designed for a gigabit connection. Once the software is working properly, we expect that a single PRU port should have similar performance to the CPSW.
