CCS/66AK2H12: Keystone2 General perpose header format on SPI boot

Hi Champs,

Customer is trying SPI boot. However, this SPI boot is not success.

So, we would like to know if this GPH format setting is correct at 1st approach.

(1)

According to this 12.2.1 Invoking the Hex Conversion Utility From the Command Line, it has "armhex" command.

There is many option command.. Which is "output option" is usually use for SPI boot ? Could you please provide us this reference that has ever success on SPI boot ?

(2) Our phenomenon is failing during RBL:

Could you please provide us what kind of parameter RBL is checking ?

Hi,

The SPI boot is verified. K2H EVM is using SPI NOR boot.
Have you checked the following guide for instructions & example boot:
software-dl.ti.com/.../Foundational_Components.html

Hi,

About armhex options. Each of them is explained in a separate section of the manual, see from Section 12.6 to Section 12.14.6.

I am not exactly sure what are you trying to boot? The command:
cd [SDK Install Path]/pdk_<platform>_<version>/packages/ti/boot/sbl
make all BOOTMODE=spi BOARD=<EVM> SOC=<platform>

should build the sbl & SPI flashwriter needed to write the boot image into SPI boot mode. Then in 4.6.3.6.5. Making Loadable User Application image (app) you have the sequence to make your RTOS application loadable by TI RTOS SBL. You could check the makefile in ~/ti/pdk_k2hk_4_0_10/packages/ti/boot/sbl & the sbl_k2hk.sh script in ~/ti/pdk_k2hk_4_0_10/packages/ti/boot/sbl/build to see how exactly the SPI NOR boot image (MLO) is generated.

Hi,

This falls under the expertise of the compiler team, looping them in this thread. I think this should be TI_TXT or TI_TAGGED options.

The Processor SDK RTOS does this automatically when you execute make all BOOTMODE=spi BOARD=evmK2H SOC=K2H, the tools used are:
-arm-none-eabi-objcopy -O binary [path_to/sbl.out file] [path_to/sbl.bin]
/home/users/ykovachev/ti/pdk_k2hk_4_0_12/packages/ti/boot/sbl/tools/tiImageGen/bin/tiimage 0x0C0B0000 SPI [path_to/sbl.bin] [path_to/MLO]

As for the armhex utility syntax, see what is recommended in processor SKD RTOS developers gudie (but this is fro K2G):
armhex [.out file] [.rmd file]
