DM355 boot setup

I just started working on DM355 . I set up the NFS server (using the Getting Started guide) and all the stuff works fine while connected to the NFS host. Now I want to give a standalone demonstration of the a few things I got working using the board.. How do I boot the DM355 without the NFS host. I want to demonstrate the kit as a standalone system booting from its own memory and running the program that I built on it. I know this is a very basic question but as you might have guessed I am completely new to embedded systems and the right direction would be a great help.

Do you already have the kernel in NAND flash memory (as opposed to TFTP from host). If not you may want to burn it into flash. (see http://wiki.davincidsp.com/index.php/Writing_Kernel_Image_to_NAND_Flash )

With regards to file system, you have a few options other than NFS. For example, for running stand alone, you can choose to put file-system in NAND flash, an SD card, or maybe a USB stick... The process for each of these have their similarities and differences. To tell the system which device you have your file-system in, you need to specify it in the u-boot bootargs variable (e.g. insted of root=/dev/nfs, use somthing like root=/dev/mtdblock3 to indicate it is in NAND flash partition associated with mtdblock3 ).
