AM4376: Max allowed memory frequency in EMIF tool

Part Number: AM4376

I'm using the EMIF tool to generate register configuration for DDR3-1600. Per my understanding, the clock frequency for DDR3-1600 should be 800MHz, however entering 800 for "DDR Memory Frequency" in "Step1-System Details" is not allowed in this tool. Available value range is 303 ~ 400 (MHz) for DDR3. What's the corrrect value of DDR Memory Frequency for DDR3-1600?

The EMIF tool i'm using is "SPRAC70_AM437x_EMIF_Configuration_Tool_V20.xlsx".

Thanks,

Tony

  • Hi,

The maximum DDR clock frequency supported by AM437x devices is 400MHz (see Table 5-49 in the AM437x Datasheet Rev. D). All DDR3 memory speed grades can operate down to 303MHz per JEDEC specification. You should enter 400MHz in the spreadsheet and use parameters from the DDR3-1600 speed bin, noting that on some of the timings you should choose the value for 2.5ns DDR clock.
