Video and data streaming over network using DM365

Hello guys,

I have a simple question to ask you:

My board is a TI DM365 DaVinci DSP, that has a CMOS camera (720p resolution) and few sensors connected to it (accelerometer, gyro, mic and another DSP). I need to stream the video and the sensors data together on the network (Wifi or ethernet) and I was wondering how to implement the software. What program should I use? Synchronization is very important so I can analyze the results in real time on a remote computer, so the data should be broadcast in real-time or using timestamp.

Do you know any software implementation to do that?

Any help would really be appreciated!

mmm, are you perhaps looking for an RTSP type application: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Streaming_Protocol

If so, I believe gstreamer and live555 are two popular choices in the ARM/Linux spaces.

Ok so do you think that I can use a program like ffmpeg to stream video on the network (TCP/IP) and in parallel, send the sensors values through something simple like telnet for example? Would it be easy to add a timestamp to the H.264/MPEG4 video?

This should certainly be possible, though it sounds more like a proprietary (and maybe leaner) implementation an industry standard protocol such as RTSP. I am not too familiar with telnet; I have used it, but not sure if it guarantees packet delivery, order...maybe using two TCP/IP ports would be more suitable.
