TMS320C6457: IBIS model for SGMII

Part Number: TMS320C6457

Hi,

IBIS model for C6457 is found here:

But It seems like no data for SGMII. Now my customer would like to have IBIS data for SGMII. Can you suggest ?

Well, I found the following statement in the datasheet:

7.14.3 EMAC Electrical Data/Timing (SGMII)  The TMS320TCI6484 and TMS320C6457 DSPs Hardware Design Guide application report (literature number SPRAAV7) specifies a complete EMAC and SGMII interface solutions for the C6457 as well as a list of compatible EMAC and SGMII devices. TI has performed the simulation and system characterization to ensure all EMAC and SGMII interface timings in this solution are met; therefore, no electrical data/timing information is supplied here for this interface.

Does it mean what users have to do for SGMII design is just following the suggestion described here ? (No need for IBIS simulation for SGMII ?)

Best Regards,
NK

  • Hi Naoki-san,

Simulation of the SGMII interface is supported by IBIS AMI models that are not available on TI.com. The customer must request approval to get the IBIS AMI model through their TI representative. All requests must be approved by BU management. The procedure for approval can be found on TI wiki. Contact me through email if you need that location.

  • Hello Bill,

Thanks for your explanation. I`ll send a private message separately. I close the thread now.

  • Naoki-san,

You are asking about SGMII models for C6457.  This is an old product line that came out in 2008.  There are no IBIS-AMI models available for this old product line.  The layout guidelines available in the "TMS320TCI6484 and TMS320C6457 SerDes Implementation Guidelines Application Report" (SPRAAY1A) from October 2009 is the only guidance available.  Note that we have newer products that have higher performance with lower power and cost that we recommend for new designs.

  • Hi, Tom

Thanks for the correction. I`ll suggest the same to the customer.
