Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138, TMS320C6748, 66AK2G12, AM5728
I think our next step is to figure out which device or devices would work best for our VoIP design here. Here are some considerations:
- We have been looking at the TMS320C6674. It should have the performance we need with 4 cores running at 1.0GHz. We have noted the DSP can use up to 8 functional units per clock cycle. It is nice to have the option for a 1.25GHz part should we need it.
- Here are the interfaces that we need for the system design:
- One Ethernet port that we can run at 100Mb/s and the related MDIO
- Two pairs of 128 channel (8.192MHz) serial TDM buses
- DDR memory interface
- SPI
- I2C
- UART
- Some GPIO pins
- Debug facility
The TMS320C6674 has all of these, but it also has many more features and interfaces beyond this. What we are wondering is if there is a part with fewer features/interfaces that will meet our needs? Which DSPs should we be considering?
