Hi,

My customer would like to know about the register information on USB_0_CFG(0x02680000 - 0x02690000). It seems there is no information in TRM. I know TI does not support USB IP directly, but my customer is saying that this address range is not part of register that the USB IP provides. Can you suggest ?

The TRM states:
NOTE: Details on the registers found in the USB subsystem are not provided in this document. The existing Linux or RTOS drivers should be used for proper USB operation. For those who do wish to substantially modify the existing Linux or RTOS USB driver(s),or create new drivers, contact your TI sales representative for more information on how to obtain the third party documentation under NDA.

So you should contact a sales representative or your local FAE.

Yes. I understand your point. But what i would to clarify here is that how we should handle the registers which is not described in the IP databook.

Yordan, Yes. In fact I don`t have, but my customer do. And they are saying the USB_0_CFG(0x02680000 - 0x02690000) registers are not documented in the IP databook. So they are wondering if this address range might be for the configuration for TI specific USB IP integration.

Please update me if you have a feedback from your design team.

Hi,

There are indeed TI config registers at address 0268 0000h. They are described in the TI TRM NDA version, chapter USB. Public TRM doesn't have them.

Stan, Thanks for your update. Ok, so can we deliver the NDA version of TRM to the customer via TI local FAE/Sales ? In this case, what is the support scheme for the document ? (Questions from the customer should be handled by TI local FAE ?).

Yes, if customer has signed NDA with TI, then they can have the NDA TRM via their TI contact. Local FAE can support them, but searching and posting in the forum is also welcome.

Sorry for the delay in further response.

We have reviewed this post and I would like to clarify that while Stan is correct that there is an "internal" doc, this doc is not planned to be released externally and is for internal use only. There are no plans to release any additional documentation, beyond what the customer already has access to - so please do align with the customer.

For the mentioned registered, I would recommend referring to TI USB software drivers and program these registers exactly as it is programmed in these drivers.

For your reference, you can find the initialization/programmed value for these usb wrapper registers refering to the following files below

dwc3-keystone.c is for k2g, k2e

dwc3-omap.c is currently used for dra7/am57x, omap5

The Linux source code is in both of the following packages.

Thank you for the clarification. You suggested that there is no doc and the same wrapper configuration with linux kernel driver is the recommended. As you know, there is no way for users to validate if those registers are *really* correct or not. My customer will work with their 3rd party to develop USB driver for commercial RTOS on A15. In that case, who should take a responsibility for the wrapper configuration ?

Hello Naoki-san,
Perhaps I don't understand your comment, but logically the fact that the Linux (or RTOS) driver that we provide is functional would prove that the referenced wrapper registers are correct.

I understand your point, but what i wanted to know is who could guarantee the quality/correctness for the wrapper configuration. Even if the driver worked by copying the registers from the linux driver, that would mean that it just works but does not do that it has been qualified in the driver design point of view. If TI can state that the wrapper register configuration you provided in the kernel driver is *really* correct, that would be fine. Please give me your advice.
