66AK2G12: Does the 66ak2g12 need DVC in its CVDD supply?

Part Number: 66AK2G12

The SWCU187A and SWCU186 user guides show designs that include the possibility of using the DVC capabilities of these parts with the 66AK2G12.  Does the 66AK2G12 actually require DVC for proper operation if the part is always run at a fixed speed?  I noticed that the balls that would normally control Smart Reflex are left as unused.  Thank you for your help.

  • Hi John,
The 66AK2G12 operates at a fixed CVDD voltage level based on the speed that you are operating the part. If you are operating the part at 600MHz, CVDD should be set to 0.9V. If you are operating the part at 1GHz, CVDD should be set to 1V. Most designs are targeted at one operating frequency or another so digital control of the CVDD power supply is optional.
    Regards, Bill
