Linux/AM5728: USB : Modules not installed

Hi,

I m using Yocto processor SDK 04.02.00.09 version.

I have compiled the source code and the modules are present in separate tar file named modules-am57xx-evm.tgz

The rootfs doesnt have any .ko files to install.

Please provide the guidance to flash the modules-am57xx-evm.tgz to rootfs which is present in SD card.

Hi Karthikeyan,

One possible solution, is to mount your SD card on your host machine. Then you can install these modules in the SD card rootfs, plug the SD card on your AM57x board and boot. See below wiki pages for details:

Is there any specific procedure for the YOCTO SDK ?

Karthikeyan,

AFAIK there is no "YOCTO SDK". We have only PSDK Linux. Link to version 4.02 is below:

PSDK Linux is based on Arago Linux distribution.

PSDK Linux has Yocto Projec OE Core compatible file systems.

The Yocto Project is an open-source collaboration spearheaded by the Linux Foundation to simplify the framework for building embedded Linux software distributions. TI makes this available through its Arago distribution. The Arago Project provides a verified, tested and supported subset of packages, built with a free and open tool chain. Additional resources on Yocto Project and TI’s Arago distribution are available at arago-project.org.

Hi pavel,

I have followed the processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Linux_Kernel_Users_Guide

which is giving me error and crashing my environment. Error as follows,

Makefile:546: recipe for target 'silentoldconfig' failed

make[1]: *** [silentoldconfig] Error 2

The present kernel configuration has modules disabled.

Type 'make config' and enable loadable module support.

Then build a kernel with module support enabled.

Makefile:1254: recipe for target 'modules_install' failed

make: *** [modules_install] Error 1

Actually using yocto build, getting a modules-am57xx-evm.tgz file with modules.

Since it is Yocto sdk following that kernel user guide giving me issues.

It will be helpful if you provide the perfect usage of this file. or Provide the procedure to build modules within the rootfs.tar file

Issue Resovled by adding kernel-modules flag in layer.conf file
