DM505: Any RTOS based SDK available ?

Part Number: DM505

Hi,

My customer is interested in DM505 because of the good performance in Mhz and pricing (lower cost than K2G or AM57x) for their products. But I`m concerned that there is no sdk for the software development. It is good if we had ProcessorSDK RTOS package for DM505. Do you have any plan in the future ?

I know Processor SDK Radar might be used (because DM505 looks almost same device):

But this package is for Radar application. Unfortunately, my customer`s application is very different from the radar.

Note that my customer is not interested in EVE feature. Just C66x (s) and other generic peripherals. I know you have limited support for EVE in catalog use.

Rishabh,

Thanks for your reply. This is basically for vision application, right ? My customer`s app is not related to vision. Moreover, the software structure of SDK is very same with Proc SDK Rader and that is very different from the standard ProcSDK RTOS. It would be nice if we had generic ProcSDK RTOS for DM505, just like other processors (ex: AM57x and K2G).

Hi NK,

I don't think we have ProcSDK support for DM505, however I will check on that and get back to you.
Also can you see PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_06_00_00\ti_components\drivers\pdk_01_10_02_07\packages\ti to analyze if this software is something that you can use.

Thanks. Please let me know if you have any updates. As for the pdk, I`ve already checked, but it looks not enough -- for example, no driver for mcasp.

ProcSDK RTOS has various example code for EVM for existing catalog processors. DM505 looks TDA3x spin off for catalog use. But as far as i know, there is no EVM for DM505. I seem that could be the reason that you don`t have the ProcSDK RTOS.

Biser, I know you currently don`t have ProcSDK RTOS for DM505. What i want to know here is whether you have exact plan for supporting ProcSDK RTOS in the future.

Hi NK,

We do have Processor SDK RTOS for DRA78x which is another spin off of TDA3x. We aren’t providing further releases for it right now but you can see the support enabled in the latest release from March last year:

Thank you for your reply. DRA7x is for automotive and not for catalog usage. My customer`s app is not for automotive.

It seems there is really no SDK for DM505. I close the thread.

NK,

Yes there is no separate SDK for DM505. But you can use most of the components from Processor SDK Vision release.
A few drivers that are not present in Processor SDK Vision can be taken from DRA78x Processor SDK.
As directly structures are similar you should be able to move drivers and build the customer application.
