Linux/AM5728: shutdown command doing a reboot

Part Number: AM5728
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BEAGLEBOARD-X15

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

I am using the beagleboard-X15 with ti-processor-sdk-linux-am57xx-evm-04.00.00.04

I am trying to implement a proper shutdown because we have issues with memory corruption during power off (we cannot use the "long press" feature of the power button)

I have tried to send pulse to the PWRDOWN pin of the TPS6590376 power management chip but it does not do a shutdown but a reboot.

I have tried the shutdown command in the linux terminal but it is the same, it does not do a shutdown but a reboot.

my question is also : how can we do to shutdown the AM572 processor or put it in a safe state for power off ?

Regards.

  • Hello Christophe,

We do not support the beagleboard-X15 on these forums, so I will not be able to comment about board-specific issues. The AM572x Evaluation module is somewhat similar to the beagleboard-X15. I am not sure what the differences are, but I can say that software reboot from the terminal does not work on the AM572x EVM board out-of-the-box.

What are you entering into your terminal? I expect standard commands like "shutdown -h now" to work just fine with AM57xx.

    Regards,
    Nick
