RTOS/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM437X: Ethercat Port0 & Port1 connection issue

Hi Champs:

#1. We tested this prebuild FW on AM437 IDK: pru_icss_ethercat_slave_prebuilt_01.00.07.02

#2. Using TwinCat 3.1 for testing the Ethercat Port 0 / 1.

Here is the issue we found:

Case 1:

Testing with TwinCat by using Port 0 is okay.

Then, switch the Ethernet Cable to Port 1, the Twincat cannot work with Port 1.

Case 2:

Testing with TwinCat by using Port 1 is okay.

Then, switch the Ethernet Cable to Port 0, the Twincat works.

Then, switch back to the Port 1, the Twincat will not work.

Please comment on this if this is a real issue or not, if yes, how to solve?

Rio,

EtherCAT is designed to have port 0 as input port for connecting to master TwinCAT. The result of your test cases is undefined and not a real issue.

Hi, Garrett:

Here is the big question, there are 2 slaves , when we connect

(1) slave 1 port 0 to master

(2) slave 1 port 1 to slave 2 port 0

then slave 2 will not be detected by master.

This is why we think port 1 has problem.

And there are error messages shown on master if we just connect slave 1 port 1 to master

(1) LNK_MIS A B

(2) LNK_ADD A B

This why we think port 1 has some issue.

Kevin,

Can you make sure both boards can be detected if they are separately linked to master? I will try to get two AM437x IDK to verify it next week...
And do you have any wireshark capture when the issue occurs?

Kevin,

We don't see any issue with multiple IDKs in our setup. Please ensure you have correct MLO from processor SDK. You may also try to verify the IDK with diagnostic applications from PRSDK.
