DRA80M: Pre-defined values of configuration fields with min pin ON | Jacinto Evaluation Board

Part Number: DRA80M

Have a customer question -

Could you please let me know what are the pre-defined values for the configuration fields when min pin (BOOTMODE07) is set up on AM65x/DRA80xM IDK? According to http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruim6/spruim6.pdf section 3.3.4.1, it states the following:

BOOTMODE07 – This is the minimum (MIN) configuration pin. The min pin is provided as a way to use minimal pin strapping to configure boot. When the min pin value is 1, all configuration fields are based on pre-defined default values. In this case, no boot mode pins beyond the min pin need to be driven because their values are ignored

Could you please point what are the default values for each boot media type (notably OSPI)? .Preliminary search of TRM did not reveal this.

  • Hi John,

MIN (predefined) values can be found in the latest TRM starting from section 4.3.3.

You will notice that for OSPI and QSPI, some values correspond to reserved/descoped settings. Thre are two possibilities:

    1. MIN pin = 1 cannot be used with OSPI/QSPI. All configuration pins - [15:8] must be set always

    2. MIN default values had changed to select supported OSPI/QSPI settings which wasn't reflected in TRM

Unfortunately I didn't succeed to find out.

    Regards,

    Stan
