CCS/TMS320C6713B: Acoustic Echo Cancellation using C6713 HELP

Part Number: TMS320C6713B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am doing a project Of ECHO CANCELLATION using C6713 and CCS v3.1(which came in the CD accompanying the DSP KIT).

I got the code for the same from : https://www.dsprelated.com/showabstract/65.php. Instead I am Using TMS320C6713.

Now according to earlier Discussion on this topic : https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/12454

I modified the files nlms_adfilt.c and nlms.gel . I also added all the necessary files required to run the project which are :c6x.h,c6xdsk.h,c6xdskinit.h,c6xdskinterrupts.h,c6xdskinit.c,nlms_adaptfilt.c,nlms.gel,rtslib6700.

I changed the build options according to chassing book which are :

compiler --> basic --> target version --> c671x(-mv6710)

compiler --> advanced --> memory models --> Far(--mem_model:data=far)

compiler --> preprocessor --> Include Search path --> (give address where all support files stored)

compiler --> preprocessor --> Pre define symbol(-d) : CHIP_6713

linker --> basic --> library Search Path --> (gave address where all support files stored)

linker --> basic --> include libraries(-l) --> rts6700.lib;dsk6713bsl.lib;csl6713.lib

linker --> advanced --> uncheck the Warn about the output sections (-w) checkbox.

then I build the project and the build was successful with   0 errors   0 warnings   0 remarks.

Now my queries are :

How should I give the input to the board? By signal generator or by Microphone attached to the mic in port of the board or by some other means?

How should I get the output (Echo cancelled signal)? By attaching Oscilloscope or by using headphones or by some other means?

Can I compare both the input and output both physically by hearing (the input and output signal) and Graphically by observing the waveforms?

Do I need to add echo.c (Chassing book) file to this project?  ftp://ftp.wiley.com/sci_tech_med/digital_signal/ is the link to this file.

Is there any need to add other files to the project??

Please Help ASAP.

THANKS

  • Adit,

    Both C6713EVM and CCSv3.1 are quite old. From www.ti.com/.../TMDSDSK6713, the EVM supports:

    -High-quality 24-bit stereo codec
    -Four 3.5mm audio jacks for microphone, line in, speaker and line out

    So you can use the audio jacks to input/output signals. You will need a McASP driver for sending/receiving signals in your application.

    If you have the Rin/Sin signals captured from field, you can also bypass the driver and directly feed in AEC library and log the Rout/Sout signal and then analyze with speech/audio edit tool like Adobe Audition or MATLAB.

    You may post the question on the project files to dsprelated.com. The link you showed e2e.ti.com/.../12454 seemed have a lot of info though.

    Regards,
    Garrett
  • I tried using microphones and speaker having 3.5 mm jacks but I cannot hear any output.
  • Next I tried the same project using different support files which are :
    c6x.h
    c6xdsk.h
    c6xinterrupts.h
    dsk6713.h
    dsk6713_aic23.h
    C6713dskinit.h
    rts6700.lib
    csl6713.lib
    dsk6713bsl.lib
    C6713dskinit.c
    nlms_adfilt.c
    Vectors_intr.asm
    C6xdsk.cmd
    nlms.gel

    with the following build options :
    compiler --> basic --> target version --> c671x(-mv6710)
    compiler --> advanced --> memory models --> Far(--mem_model:data=far)
    compiler --> preprocessor --> Include Search path --> (give address where all support files stored)
    compiler --> preprocessor --> Pre define symbol(-d) : CHIP_6713
    linker --> basic --> library Search Path --> (gave address where all support files stored)
    linker --> basic --> include libraries(-l) --> rts6700.lib;dsk6713bsl.lib;csl6713.lib
    linker --> advanced --> uncheck the Warn about the output sections (-w) checkbox.
    linker --> output module --> Relocatable Executable (-ar). ///// (This was Not done Earlier.)

    Then I build the program.The build was successful with following warning

    undefined first referenced
    symbol in file
    --------- ----------------
    _inputsource C:\CCStudio_v3.1\MyProjects\Echo cancellation\ec3\Debug\c6713dskinit.obj
    >> warning: output file './Debug/ec3.out' is not executable

    Build Complete,
    0 Errors, 1 Warnings, 0 Remarks.

    Queries are :
    Why this warning has occurred?

    This build is successful with 0 warnings when I make the following change in build options :
    linker --> output module --> Relocatable Non-Executable (-r).
    and the build is having 2 errors when the output module is set to absolute executable(-a).

    What difference it makes when I change the output module (in linker tab in build options) to its different values like absolute Executable or Relocatable Executable or relocatable non- executable?

    With output module set to relocatable executable I am getting the same output when output_type is 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (i.e there is no change in output) ?Whats the problem now? Further when the execution is stopped using Debug --> Halt then also the output is not stopped (I am getting output even if the program execution is halted)? Whats the reason for this?

    Can you please Execute the code for me and check the errors?
  • >>undefined first referenced
    >>symbol in file
    --------- ----------------
    >>_inputsource C:\CCStudio_v3.1\MyProjects\Echo cancellation\ec3\Debug\c6713dskinit.obj

    You need resolve the undefined symbol _inputsource.

    For details of the linker options, please refer to the document TMS320C6000 Assembly Language Tools User's Guide, SPRU186W (www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru186w/spru186w.pdf ), section:
    7.4.2 Relocation Capabilities (--absolute_exe and --relocatable Options)
    7.4.2.1 Producing an Absolute Output Module (--absolute_exe option)

  • Sir can you please execute this program for me and help me figure out the problem? or where i am going wrong.
    here is a folder with all the support files and source files :drive.google.com/open
    I am refering to the thesis : www.dsprelated.com/.../65.php
    I am also refering to this thread on forum : e2e.ti.com/.../12454

    Please try to execute this program for me and thus you we will be able to understand my doubts more clearly
  • Adit,

    Essentially you need to uncheck 'ar' option and resolve the undefined symbol issue to build the binary.

    We don't have the expertise on the project from dsprelated.com forum. You may try to contact with the author who should be able to support you better.

    Garrett
