66AK2G12: - advisory 48 and ICE board design?

Part Number: 66AK2G12
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 66AK2G02

Team,

The ICE board was designed for 66AK2G02 and some of the HW workaround might not be needed anymore when using 66AK2G12.

-I guess that the below workaround is not needed anymore. Correct?
https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/594280/2185095

-Are there some specific design recommendation for CLKSEL that are not in the datasheet?

-Are there any other major HW workaround needed for 66AK2G12 that are not on the ICE board design?

I know that the evel boards are not consider as reference design and that datasheet/silicon errata should be used as reference doc. But I just would like to make sure we do not miss any important HW change when looking at the ICE board as example for the 66AK2G12.

Thanks in advance,

Anthony

  • Hi Anthony,

The workaround described in Advisory 48 is not needed with the 66AK2G12 version of the part, although it won't cause any issues if it is still present. For the 66AK2G12 the RSV6 pin should be pulled low as described in the data manual.

The K2GICE board was designed for the 66AK2G02 and was not updated to support the 66AK2G12 when operating at 1GHz. 1GHz operation requires a 1V initial voltage for CVDD and will draw more current. The 66AK2G ICE board will continue to operate as a design example for the 66AK2G12 configured for 600MHz operation and with the DDR operating at 800 MT/s.  Upgrading the operation to 1GHz will require a review of the power supply design, the PDN solution and the DDR3 routing.

    Regards, Bill
