TMS320C6748: TMS320C6748EZWTD4 Junction temperature

Part Number: TMS320C6748

Hi,

For the component “TMS320C6748EZWTD4”, the Operating junction temperature is mentioned as +90degC. We need clarification on this data because we normally see the Tj value for this type of components as +125degC. Does this value represent Junction temperature or Ambient temperature?

    The device family is offered in 2 temperature grades

    Industrial - 40 to 90C

    Extended -40 to 105C

    Both of these are specified in terms of junction temperature. 

    We do not have a 125C junction offering for this family. 

    You can refer to Figure 7.1 (Device Nomenclature) in the datasheet

    TMS320C6748EZWTD4 is industrial grade -40 to 90c tjunction. 

    If you opt for the "A" part, please also make sure you refer to the power on hour (POH) section in the datasheet.

    See Figure7-1. Device Nomenclature from TMS320C6748 datasheet, there are the following temperature ranges supported:
    0°C to 90°C, Commercial Grade
    –40°C to 90°C, Industrial Grade
    –40°C to 105°C, Extended Grade

    Given the serial number you provide: TMS320C6748EZWTD4 you use Industrial Grade device, meaning the operating temperature range is:–40°C to 90°C.
    The datasheet states that these are Operating Junction Temperature ranges, see 5.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings Over Operating Junction Temperature Range (Unless Otherwise Noted).
