Linux/AM5728: UART

Tool/software: Linux

I am using AM5728 evm with sdk version 05.00.00.15, my requirement is to use UART interface to communicate with an external device.I dont want to disturb UART3 and need to make use of UART 8/9.

Can someone please help me how to achieve this.

Hello Jahnavi,

To enable UART8/9, setup the needed pinmux settings in <tisdk>/board-support/u-boot-<version>/board/ti/am57xx/mux_data.h file and make the UART8/9 status "okay" in <tisdk>/board-support/linux-<version>/arch/arm/boot/dts/ti/am57xx-evm-common.dtso file. Rebuild and reflash your board with the new generated images.

You can use the echo and cat commands to verify that the UART is working. Please, see this post for more details.

Thanks for the reply, if I want to send a command through UART through an application then, how can I do that?

Thanks for the reply, can I use the same apis used in the example given in the thread i.e, read() for reading the uart command on am5728 ?
