TMS320DM6446: Replacememt Part & Flash - Reg

1. I am using TMS320DM6446AZWTA in my design. My design production is expected
for another 10 years. So what is the Status of this IC ? If it is not
continued for next couple of years, what is alternate Part for this with
out effecting Hardware and Software ?


2. I want to use NOR FLASH(MT28EW256ABA1HJS-0SIT) with this IC. Is this
NOR Flash is compatible and works with TMS320DM6446AZWTA ? Please suggest.

    Hi Ahamad,

    1. TMS320DM6446 is NRND (Not Recommended for New Design).

    For new designs, consider AM5728 or AM5718. Single/Dual core C66x 750MHZ; Single/Dual core A15 1.5 GHz.

    2. You should compare NOR chip datasheet with DM6446 datasheet (Table 2-9. EMIFA Terminal Functions, section 6.10.1 Asynchronous EMIF), and check if these two are compatible.

    Now I can not change my design due to it is in production. So Please suggest me any upgrade/Alternate Part available for this IC (TMS320DM6446) ?
    Also clarify me, what is the difference between TMS320DM6446AZWTA &
    SM320DM6446AZWTA?

    I am not aware of any DM64x device that will be in production for the next 10 years. The whole DM64x family is legacy device. I will check also the status within TI and come back to you if I am able to find something more.

    SM320DM6446AZWTA is HiREL Qualified device (High Reliability).
