Linux/AM5728: Accessing peripherals on the IDK boards

Can you please share some examples or Linux commands about how to configure, access and use these peripherals (GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART) from Linux.

Hi Sai,

From what I understand, you need to access AM57x peripherals through userspace commands.

You can access (read/write) any AM57x register through the devmem2 tool or omapconf tool. omapconf tool has much more capabilities than just access a register, refer to the below pointers for details:

Regarding I2C, you can also use i2c tools (in example i2cdetect), check below user guides;

Regarding GPIO, you should use sysfs:

Regarding McSPI, you can use MTD commands in case of Flash, or you can use spidev test aplication:

Regarding UART, linux kernel exposes UART to User Space via /dev/tty*
