AM3358: Seamless video switching without blank spaces

Hi!

Recently I received a request to develop a custom PCB with video loop functionality. It have to loop video or switch between videos without delay (at least lower then 100ms delay) and without blank spaces. Another request is Full HD resolution. I can use any codec I like. The board have some other things to do but only videoplayback is a field where I don't feel myself confident enough.

So long story short - is it possible to do it with AM3358 processor? 

I'm asking because I'm willing to buy development board earlier to not waste my time since delivery will probably take one or two weeks to the place where I live.

Also I greatly appreciate any recommendations if there is a processor better suited for this purpose.

    Hi,

    It's not clear what exactly you want to loop back. When you said switch between videos, seems like multiple video sources. Can you explain your video sources? By codec, do you mean video codec? You mentioned HD resolution, but what's the decode/display frame rate?

    Thanks a lot for your response.
    Frame rate should be 25-30 fps.
    About multiple sources. I have flash memory with multiple videos which I need to switch on the screen without blank space. I can afford freeze of the last frame for no longer then 100ms. Switch can happen at any random period of time and triggered by serial command or other external trigger source.

    Hi,

    AM335x can support 1080p30 display. The switch latency depends upon the your application and related hardware pieces involved.  Refer to this e2e post on other care abouts on AM335x display
