Linux: TPL support for nand - patch files if any

Hi Guys,

We have DRA71x board and custom NAND. We need to have TPL support for NAND. Do u guys have any reference patch for this? My SDK version is 3.04 Kindly help.

Any guidance is also helpful for us. If u have patch for TPL support in NAND, its great but we will be happy with some guidance as well.

By TPL do you mean tertiary program loader - similar to Uboot SPL.
Are you looking at boot from NAND and a 2-stage bootloader supporting NAND across both the stages

Hi Sriram,

Yes! TPL I mean by tertiary program loader - similar to Uboot SPL. We have both NOR and NAND. We need to boot from NOR and then jump to NAND situation. We needed some guidance or a patch for TPL support for NAND where we can use DFU-UTIL to write the images onto NAND and use NAND in subsequent Booting. I hope my problem is clear.

By NOR do you mean a parallel NOR flash or QSPI flash. Again, you would boot first stage boot loader from NOR and this then needs to be able to handle loading image from NAND - is that your requirement

Yes NOR I mean QSPI flash. Also your understanding is correct, we would boot from NOR and then we shall be able to handle images from NAND. By design we have 2-stage boatloader considering the RAM. We need SPL as well as TPL support. What I am asking you is the help in handling TPL support for NAND.

In a 2 stage boot flow, it is assumed that the second stage bootloader image is also fetched from the same media from where the first stage boot image was loaded by the ROM.
MLO (first stage boot loader) detects the media from where it was loaded and hence will look for the second stage (uboot) image also from the same boot media.
Hence , first stage booting from QSPI NOR and then switching to NAND flash for the Uboot loading is currently not supported
